Hey, we're Aparna and Nomi — Yuki's meowmies and the slightly unhinged founders of The Neko Store.
And yes, we are those crazy cat ladies who made their entire personality about their cat. Guilty as charged. No notes.
How Yuki Came Into Our Lives
In 2025, the cat distribution system chose us. Yuki came to us as a breeder's reject — broken in ways we didn't quite understand. But as we helped him heal, he ended up fixing us instead.
We were first time cat parents, so we did what any obsessive parent would do. We researched everything. What should we feed him? What toys are safe? What litter won't destroy his lungs?
Here's what we found instead of good products for our Yuki:
- Products made for dogs
- Toys that broke in 2 days
- Actual choking hazards labelled "cat-safe"
And the good stuff? Yeah, those cost a kidney.
Slowly we realised: when it comes to cat products in India, there is no "best." There's just a hundred brands yelling into the void and zero answers.
Why We Started The Neko Store
When we started talking to other cat parents, we realised we weren't alone. We kept hearing the same things.
"I've been cooking chicken every three days because I can't find food I actually trust."
"I gave my cat my own cervical pillow because I couldn't find a bed good enough for him."
"Gone are the romantic days. I can't burn a candle, I can't use a diffusser, I can't have real plants. My cats have taken over everything — and honestly, fair enough."
One parent was planning to make her own litter from red mud and dried rose petals — because nothing in the market had earned her trust.
These aren't isolated cases. This is just being a cat parent in India.
